Now that you have a gift, you build the gift funnel around it. A gift funnel is really a gift page and a link for giving the gift, plus the automation behind them. When you finish, you have a link to share, and every receiver joins your email list on their own.
What to prepare
- A gift that is already a free product on your website (Create a gift).
- A tool for sending automatic emails, where you set the emails of the funnel.
Build the funnel in 3 steps
Build the gift page
The gift page shows what the gift is and how to get it. Receivers leave their email on this page to get the gift. You build the page from the templates already in Write to Sell, then fill in your gift’s details.
On the page, say clearly that receivers will get more emails from you, so they accept it by choice. After this step, the gift page is on your website with a box for an email.
Set the automatic emails
Every funnel comes with a piece of automation. With a gift funnel, the system sends emails when someone signs up for the gift, and delivers the gift. Set 2 kinds of email in order:
- The email on how to use the gift, sent right when someone gets it: how to use the gift.
- The nurture emails, sent after that: stories you tell little by little, so receivers understand and trust you more.
After this step, a person who signs up gets the gift and the first email without you sending anything by hand.
Get the gift link
The link of the gift page is what you use to share, such as sending the link, promoting and sharing useful content outside your website. Because it is a gift and you sell nothing, nobody minds when you share it.
On your website, put the gift in the Gift block of the home page, so a reader who reaches the bottom without buying does not leave empty-handed. After this step, the gift has a way in from outside and inside your website.
From gift funnel to sales funnel
The gift funnel does not stop at getting an email. The automation takes the receiver from getting the gift to buying, together with the content system you already have. The nurture emails lead them to your posts, then to the sales funnel.
With a content system in place, the conversion rate is much higher than when your website has nothing. That is why the sales funnel is the next job, right behind the gift funnel.
Signs you did it right
- The gift page says what the gift is, how to get it, and that emails will follow.
- When you sign up with a test email, you get the gift and the email on how to use it.
- The gift link opens the right gift page, and the home page has a block that leads to the gift.
To be sure of each sign, get the gift like a stranger by following Test a funnel.
